Official Campaign Statement Supporting Trustee Carol Beth Litkouhi

Republican State House candidate John Grossenbacher issued the following statement after attending the Rochester Community Schools Board of Education meeting to support Trustee Carol Beth Litkouhi.

"I attended the Rochester Community Schools Board meeting to support Trustee Carol Beth Litkouhi after the Board voted to censure her and remove her from committee and liaison assignments.

After reviewing the circumstances surrounding the vote, I believe the Board made the wrong decision.

The information Trustee Litkouhi discussed involved publicly available materials, including school funding information, district budget data, enrollment figures, and other records available through state and local government sources. Public officials should be able to discuss public information with the people they represent.

Transparency is one of the foundations of good government. Citizens deserve elected officials who are willing to ask difficult questions, share information, and encourage public discussion, even when those conversations are uncomfortable.

Across Michigan, many parents have become increasingly frustrated with public institutions that appear more focused on internal politics than on improving educational outcomes for students. Restoring trust requires openness, accountability, and a willingness to hear differing viewpoints.

I appreciate Trustee Litkouhi's willingness to raise concerns she believed were important to taxpayers and families. Whether people agree with every position she takes or not, elected officials should not be discouraged from communicating with the public about matters of legitimate public interest.

As your State Representative, I will continue fighting for transparency, parental involvement, fiscal responsibility, and accountability throughout Michigan government."
